Here comes that dreaded 4 letter word again. Snow! My buttercups are starting to protrude from the cold, cold ground and soon will put on a beautiful blanket of colors. I will then find out if all my hard work, scratched knuckles, and sore knees have paid off. You really can't expect something nice, if you don't put some hard work into it first.

Senior outfielder from Brentwood
COLUMBIA, Ky -- Cumberland University outfielder Richard Carter has been named the MSC Baseball Player of the Week.

Carter, a senior out of Brentwood (Ravenwood High), led the Phoenix to a 4-0 week as they beat Brescia (Ky.) at home and they capped off the weekend with a three-game sweep against Lyon (Ark.).

FOOTBALL -- CU lands Metro standout

McGavock tailback Kendall Johnson
Cumberland University football has dipped into Metro Nashville to sign All-City tailback Kendall Johnson of McGavock High School.

A 5-8, 170-pound scatback, Johnson led the Raiders in rushing each of the past two seasons and into the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.

"Kendall has been a great kid to coach," said McGavock head coach Jay Gore. "He's got a great attitude, always a smile on his face, loves to practice, lift and compete.
