Mt. Juliet High's former two-time all-state baseball player Kyle Smith signed as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week.
Called by Golden Bear head coach Mark Purvis, "the best power hitter I ever coached," Smith spent the past four seasons at Vanderbilt battling injury.
"As a pitcher, he threw 88-92 mph for us," Purvis said.
