Mrs. McCluskey, 96, of Mt. Juliet died July 27, 2016.

The widow of the late W.J "Mac" McCluskey was born April 3, 1920 in the Green Hill Community, now known as Mt. Juliet to the late, Duncan and Gladys Ware Ligon.

She lived her whole life in this area, attending the local elementary school and graduated from Mt. Juliet High School where she played basketball, one of her lifetime loves.

The rain this week has been avoiding my little yard and it is getting time to drag out the "hosepipe", well that is what most of us southerners call it.

Creighton's Kevin Connolly to enroll
Coach Woody Hunt's effort to upgrade the roster of his 2017 baseball team continues to gather steam with the commitment of another NCAA Division I transfer. Creighton University outfielder Kevin Connolly (6-1, 180) will join the Phoenix program this fall with three solid seasons under his belt.

"Kevin is a proven Division I hitter, a guy who can give us some production at the top of our lineup," Coach Hunt said.

As a high school senior, Connolly led Creighton Prep in Omaha, NE to the best record in school history (34-4) and a state championship.
