18th annual Jesse Owens Classic
OAKVILLE, AL -- Wilson Central's boys finished second in the Gold Division Saturday in the 18th annual Jesse Owens Classic, one of the premier cross country meets in the Southeast.

Competing in a field of 275 runners and 35 teams, the Wildcats placed behind Brentwood Academy's 103 points with 116 -- besting three-time Alabama state Auburn High for second.

Defensive Player of the Week
Cumberland University's Justus Dauscha was named the Mid-South Conference West Division Defensive Football Players of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

A redshirt senior defensive end who prepped at Blackman High in Murfreesboro, Dauscha led Phoenix defense to their first shutout of the season in a 21-0 victory over Pikeville (Ky.) Saturday at Nokes-Lasater Field.
