I got three fat deer in the freezer, time to take a break for something important. Like a great meal after eating my own cooking while Jeanne and the family were in Gulf Shores.

Y'all like catfish and all the trimmins that go with a great catfish dinner? Shoot! Who doesn't? But just in case you are that un-American, you can eat some dead chicken. So tell whoever does the cookin at your place, they have tomorrow night off.

VOLLEYBALL -- FCS heads to substate

Saturday at St. Georges
Friendship Christian's volleyball team will take a record of 38-12 into the DII-A substate 1 p.m. Saturday at St. George's in Collierville.
St. George's is the Number 2-seed in the West Region while FCS comes in as the No. 3-seed in the East-Middle.
Saturday's substate winner advances to the TSSAA state tournament next week in Murfreesboro.

LEBANON -- Yudai Yamaguchi and Ignacio Mangada each posted a goal and an assist, as eighth-ranked Campbellsville University scored three times in the final 18 minutes in a 3-1 victory over No. 23 Cumberland Tuesday at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

The match was scoreless for more than 70 minutes, with Cumberland (8-4-1, 4-1-0 Mid-South) missing a couple of good scoring chances early and another midway through the second half, but the depth of the Tigers (9-0-1, 2-1-0) showed as the match wore on.

Alpin scores two goals
LEBANON -- Mariah Aplin scored twice and handed out an assist, as 12th-ranked Cumberland netted four second-half goals in a 4-0 victory over Campbellsville University in women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 12 at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

The Phoenix (10-1-1, 5-0-0 Mid-South) and Tigers (8-5-0, 0-3-0) were scoreless at intermission with nine combined shots, most of those in the final 10 minutes, but the home team broke through early in the second period.
