Angling in the rain

I don't do it much anymore, at least not on purpose. Getting too old, I guess.

But fishing on a rainy, spring day can be super productive. Over the years, (the ones quite a ways in the past,), I learned that when it is raining enough to get the creeks and draws running fresh water into the lakes and streams, the fish tend to bite.

CU athletes will instruct
LEBANON -- Cumberland University's men's and women's soccer teams will be hosting a clinic for youth soccer players of Wilson County Friday, April 28.

The free clinic will be held 6-7 p.m. at the Breakfast Rotary Soccer (airport) Complex off Castle Heights Ave.

Players ages U4 to U15 are welcome, and asked to bring their own ball and proper soccer equipment.

MT. JULIET -- Alyssa Costley had a busy Tuesday (April 25), going 4-for-4 and driving in the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh, helping lift Mt. Juliet to a thrilling 2-1 home victory over District 9-AAA rival Beech High.

Costley also earned the pitching decision, throwing a complete game three-hitter and striking out three.

Ethan Shelton's deep sacrifice fly capped the come from behind victory as the Wildcats improved to 15-9 overall and 7-1 in the district.
WCHS trailed 2-0, but Gabe Jennings slapped a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.
