The parking lot was a misnomer. The approach to the ramp a sure-fire recipe for disaster. The boat ramp at Misty Cove was deplorable.

Longtime teacher, administrator Sparks retires

After 34 years as a teacher and school system administrator, veteran Wilson County educator Mary Ann Sparks will officially retire at the end of this month.

Her long career as teacher, assistant principal and lastly Wilson County Schools Deputy Director of Human Resources was only interrupted for seven years when she took time off to stay at home with her two children.

When Romel and Jessica McMurry booked their summer vacation, they never expected to be at the center of international news.

The couple, residents of nearby Murfreesboro, have strong ties to the city of Lebanon. Romel is a graduate of Lebanon High School and his mother, Bishop Belita McMurry-Fite, pastors Heaven's View Baptist Church.

Beavers makes governor bid official
Beavers makes governor bid official

In front of over 200 supporters and a smattering of protesters, State Sen. Mae Beavers, R-Mt. Juliet, officially announced her campaign for Tennessee governor Saturday under the sweltering sun.

The rally was held at Charlie Daniels Park. Mark Pody, the Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives from the 46th District, introduced the veteran state legislature in a rousing speech and said Beavers' life and activities show she "walks the walk."
