Burklia Brown Forsythe, 64

LEBANON -- Graveside services for Mrs. Forsythe, 64, of Lebanon are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.

A native of Wilson County and the daughter of the late Jesse Frank and Nellie Mildred Ferrell Brown, she died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the University Medical Center.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Services will be conducted by Rev. Terry Fesler.

CU's Pat Lawson resigns

Cumberland University athletic director Pat Lawson has been hired as the athletic director at his alma mater — Father Ryan High School in Nashville.

Lawson, a 1993 graduate of Father Ryan, has been associated with Cumberland for the past 15 years, first as a student, then as a marketing executive for the university before serving two years as assistant athletic director.

"This was a very intriguing situation," Lawson said Tuesday afternoon, May 27, "it’s with mixed emotions I move on to another chapter in my professional life. Father Ryan has been synonymous with successful athletic programs in every sport and at every level. I am excited about the opportunity to work with the school in the ongoing development of all of our students. I’m honored to be selected to head this part of my alma mater’s mission at such a critical and exciting time in its history," Lawson said.
