Wilson County is being mentioned once again as a possible site for the Tennessee State Fair should officials decide to relocate it from its present home in Nashville.
Hale Moss, president of Wilson County Promotions, Inc. which organizes and sponsors the Wilson County Fair each year, attended a meeting in Nashville in May where a preliminary report on the future of the State Fair, including possibly moving it, was discussed.
This is not the first time the issue has been raised and was discussed a few years ago, but that was all.
The State Fair’s popularity has decreased in recent years, and its profits have dropped, also. The event is held on a 117-acre site off Nolensville Road in Nashville. It reportedly drew about 100,000 people in 2007 while more than 230,000 paying visitors attended the Wilson County Fair.
