No offense to Ben Franklin but there’s more than two things for certain in life- especially if you’re a mother.

Lebanon City Council unanimously passed a tax equity resolution sponsored by Ward 3 Councilor William Farmer at the regular Tuesday night meeting.
The resolution requests the “leaders of Wilson County government to examine and work together with the City of Lebanon to change the present inequitable tax structure.”
Farmer said that basically the city would expect either a lower tax rate for Lebanon to reflect the fact that the city receives no funding for fire protection for the county, or that the county would pay the city of Lebanon the same amount, (approximately $1.5 million) they currently spend to provide fire protection for Mt. Juliet.
The resolution also says if a solution isn’t reached by April 1, 2009, council “should consider and pass an Ordinance which forbids the use of Lebanon fire equipment and personnel beyond the Lebanon growth boundary, except in a Homeland Security Emergency.”
