Friendship 47, MTCS 3


MURFREESBORO -- The first three running plays resulted in lost fumbles for Middle Tennessee Christian in its home opener against Friendship Christian Friday night. All told, the Cougars committed eight turnovers — six fumbles and two interceptions — as they went down in defeat to the Commanders, 47-3.

Lebanon 21, Central 11


Lebanon High took advantage of two costly Wilson Central turnovers and converted both into touchdowns Friday night in a 21-11 victory over their cross-county rival at Nokes-Lasater Field.

"You can't even believe how proud I am of our young men," said LHS coach Bobby Brown. "This senior class didn't win a game as ninth graders, but they stayed 20-21 strong, hung with it and kept working. This is their reward tonight. You can't say enough about these kids."

Watertown, MJCA fall on the road

Watertown and Mt. Juliet Christian Academy had rough nights on the road in their respective Week Zero openers.

The Purple Tigers gave up 21 fourth quarter points in a 42-19 loss at White House - Heritage.  Watertown trailed 21-19 heading into the final 12 minutes before the Patriots exploded.

Dylan Holycross scored twice for Watertown while QB Dalton Phillips scored once.

The Tigers will host Middle Tennessee Christian Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.

Mt. Juliet Christian ran into a well-oiled machine Friday night as Donelson Christian Academey hammered the Saints 56-0. DCA led 21-0 after one quarter and 35-0 at intermission.

MJCA will be on the road Aug. 28 as they travel to Seymour to play King's Academy in a 6 p.m. CDT contest.
