Lebanon man nabbed with guns, fake badge

A man arrested on five charges involving assault in Wilson County on Saturday who was released after posting bond traveled to Hopkinsville, Ky. where police took him to a local hospital for a mental evaluation after an incident there.

Joseph Anthony Johnson, 42, of 1639 Murfreesboro Road, Lot 108, Lebanon, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated domestic assault and 10 counts of reckless endangerment in an incident that led authorities to discover he was also reportedly in possession of a badge that looked like a law enforcement badge from the State of Tennessee and a number of weapons.

Elie honored by Sun Belt


NEW ORLEANS -- Middle Tennessee women's basketball sophomore Icelyn Elie has been selected as the February 7 Sun Belt Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday morning.
The honor is the first in the career for the Lebanon native.

She put together the best back-to-back games of her career in leading the Blue Raiders to a pair of home wins over ULM and South Alabama last week. She averaged 24.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg in the two victories, highlighted by a career-high 28 points against the Warhawks.

Elie hit a career-best 12-of-14 (85.7 percent) field goals and added 4-of-6 free throws for her career high Wednesday night, while adding eight rebounds, a career-best tying three blocked shots and an assist in a career-high 37 minutes.
