Lebanon City Council will hold a special call meeting 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 to pass a certified tax rate of 34.5 cents on every $100 assessed value, which was handed down by the State Comptrollers Office after the statewide reappraisal.
The ordinance was unanimously approved Tuesday night during the councils regular meeting. The tax rate has to be passed by Sept. 1 or the city will revert back to its current rate of 33.5 cents, costing the city a potential $90,000 of revenue.
We need to get that approved so we dont lose that $90,000 of possible income, said city Mayor Philip Craighead.
Craighead also noted the special call meeting will include an ordinance to raise Water and Sewer rates by 14 percent to cover operating costs and capital projects. The ordinance has been withdrawn from the agendas of recent meetings due to the absence of Ward 6 Councilor Kathy Warmath as she has been out with illness.
The 2011-2012 fiscal year budget proposal, which failed Tuesday night for lack of a majority will also be back on the agenda, according to Craighead.
Were going to put the budget on there to see if anyone has changed their minds, Craighead noted.
