Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 20 at the Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, for Mrs. Hudson, 91. The widow of the late Marvin Clay Hudson, she died Aug. 17, 2013.

Frances Celeste Sanford Taylor, 83

A memorial service was held Sunday afternoon, Aug. 18 at Mt. Juliet's Bond Memorial Chapel for Mrs. Taylor, 83, of Hermitage. The widow of the late Landon Taylor, she died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013.
Arrangements were in the care of Bond Memorial Chapel, Mt. Juliet.

Juanita R. Nee Nee Rhodes, 83

A celebration of fife will be conducted, 1 p.m. Thursday Aug. 22 at the Market Street Church of Christ for Mrs. Rhodes, 83, of Lebanon. A faithful member of the Market Street Church of Christ and a 40-year employee of the Lebanon Golf & Country Club, she died Aug. 19 2013 at her residence.

At Market Street Church, she was a member of the committee that sent get well and sympathy cards. She was trained at the Wilson County Training Center and was employed by many private homes such as the Hoyal Johnson Families and The Edwin Hughes Families.

Loretta Bowen Lane, 66

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mrs. Lane, 66, of Gladeville. Born in Wilson County, she died Aug. 19, 2013, at her home.

Lucille "Lulu" Lowry, 100

A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet for Mrs. Lowry, 100. A longtime employee of Department of the Navy, she died Aug. 16, 2013.

Lucy Madeline Jamison, 96

Graveside services were held Sunday afternoon, Aug. 18 at Coleman Cemetery in Murfreesboro for Mrs. Jamison, 96. The widow of the late Vervie Jamison, she died Aug. 15, 2013.
Arrangements were in the care of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon.

Matthew Chase McDaniel, 24

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 20 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mr. McDaniel, 24, of Lebanon. An avid Tennessee Titans fan, he died Aug. 16, 2013

Interment was at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Lebanon's Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ryan McGee, 20

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet for Mr. McGee, 20, of Antioch. The son of Kevin and Zona McGee, he died Aug. 12, 2013.

William Merrick, 71

Memorial services are planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at the J.C. Hellum Funeral Home on Stokes Street for Mr. Merrick, 71. The husband of Brenda Merrick, he died Aug. 18, 2013.

CU announces HoF Class

King, Smith & '88 baseball team inducted
LEBANON -- Cumberland Athletics has announced its 2013 Hall of Fame class, which includes former basketball player Becky King Weber, former basketball player and coach Tommy Smith, and the 1988 baseball team, the programs first NAIA World Series participant.

The two individuals and team will be honored at the annual Hall of Fame dinner on Friday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. in Baird Chapel and again the next day during the football game against Union College.

King finished her Cumberland career as the programs all-time leader in assists and games played, seeing action in 117 contests. She led the NAIA in assists with 10.3 per game as a senior while starting all four years at point guard for CU.

The Metropolis, Ill., native earned Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference and NAIA National Scholar-Athlete honors during her career while leading the TCAC and District XXIV in assists her junior and senior seasons. The Bulldogs posted a 74-43 record during her four seasons, the first of which was played under Rick Reeves and the final three for Mitch Walters.

MJ soccer tops LaVergne 1-0

Riding a rock-solid defensive effort, Mt. Juliet High opened the 2013 soccer season with a 1-0 home victory over LaVergne High Monday night.

The Lady Bears got the only goal they needed from Riley Wendling some 14 minutes into the first half.

Keeper Morgan Houser took care of business in goal the rest of the way and finished with seven saves.

Prep volleyball from Monday night

MJCA 3, Hendersonville Christian 2
Saving their best for last, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy rallied from two sets down and blew past visiting Hendersonville Christian 3-2 in the season-opening volleyball match for both teams Monday. Game scores: 17-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 25-3.

"Its always good to see your team come back and win," said MJCA coach Bridgett Bass. "HCA is a talented team. Both teams really battled it out."
