Telling Tales

For a good cause

With the holidays soon approaching, I've been seriously considering starting a charity. It's been on my mind a lot lately as I've noticed many who are in dire need of help.

And this charity would be like none other!

Hell on Earth

If you are a religious person, then you’ve probably heard of Hell. All religions have their version of this place and all cultures describe it a little differently. But at its core, Hell is the most horrible place one can imagine. It’s hot, suffocating, filled to capacity and in this horror you will anguish for eternity. In other words, Hell is our local DMV.

Legend has it....

Grades matter. At least they do for a substantial portion of your life.

To my Dad, who is almost 70, they still matter. He and my grandmother both liked to tell a story that involved my father having the highest grades in his school. The school rewarded him with a ceremony where, legend has it, he received a plaque that was placed in the entry of the school for all to see. My grandfather was exceedingly proud as he had received a similar plaque.

What will you be when you grow up?

When I was young I wanted to be either an actress or an archeologist. Considering I never once performed in a school play nor was ever inclined to do so, I can't say that I'm completely devastated that Clooney and Pitt are not, today, part of my inner circle. (I mean, I am, but not because I'm not a starlet.)

The BIG Year

The big year…

Today I’m 39 years old. Last week my older brother sent me the following text message,

“Will you be 40 next week or 39?” That little question was like a punch in the gut, but not for the reason you might think. I actually can’t wait to hit the big 4-0. Seriously! From what I hear 40 is the beginning of a magical decade where you’ve learned from the mistakes made in your 20’s, start reaping the benefits from all the hard work you did in your 30’s and the little things just don’t matter anymore. Maybe there’s some universal vibration that shifts elements and the result is a healthy dose of perspective.
