Mildred Juanita Helton Burke, 89

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery for Mrs. Burke, 89, of Lebanon.  Born March 18, 1925, in Wilson County to the late Walter and Ione Watson Helton, she died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Lebanon Health & Rehab Center.

We should have taken it into consideration, the rain. Thursday night, February 20, it rained and stormed dumping a ton of rain into all the creeks. We should have given that more thought on February 23. Maybe you remember what a storm we had? But we didn’t…at least, not much. A couple or four weeks ago, we were starving for a spring-like day.

PREP BASEBALL -- DeKalb Co. downs FCS

DeKalb Co. 4, Friendship 3
LEBANON -- DeKalb County jumped out to a 3-0 lead, then held on for a 4-3 victory over Friendship Christian Wednesday evening.
Jackson Vance went the distance for the Commanders and was tagged with the loss, allowing just two earned runs on six hits. He struck out four and walked two.

PREP SOFTBALL -- FCS 8, Portland 6

PORTLAND -- Friendship Christian improved to 5-4 on the season after an 8-6 extra innings win at Portland Wednesday.

Tana Whited and Brittney Petry each drove in runs in the top of the eight as the Lady Commanders improved to 5-4 on the season.
