Senior Harry Mason gave Cumberland a 3-1 edge with a finish in the 85th minute off a cross from Goodwin and Armstrong added his second goal just 27 seconds later, this one from Sam Sheen, for the final tally.

The Bulldogs outshot Shawnee State, 24-11, including 19-8 in the second half, and forced nine saves from SSU keeper Thomas Carbonari. CUs Ian Hamilton collected five saves and was helped when Luke Wilson cleared one off the goal line as well.

Cumberland hosts rival Trevecca Nazarene Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field before jumping back into Mid-South Conference action next weekend at St. Catharine College.
