DEVILETTE HOOPS COACH

BULLETIN -- Lebanon High School girls basketball coach Ashley Johnson submitted her resignation Friday morning after two seasons on the job.

Johnson, the TSSAA Class AAA Miss Basketball at Shelbyville Central High in 2002 and a standout player at Ole Miss, will reportedly be pursuing a doctorate degree on a fulltime basis.

"Ashley was an outstanding teacher, coach and role model for our young ladies," said LHS Principal Nancy Ash, "she really wrestled with this decision."

She took the Lebanon job in May of 2008, replacing Darian Brown -- who left after two seasons to take an administrative position at Wilson Central.
