GORDONSVILLE -- Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 25 at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home for Mr. Maynard, 86, of Mt. Juliet. A US Navy veteran of World War II and owner of United Coach Service for 29 years, he died Nov. 22, 2009 at his residence.
Born May 26, 1923 in Overton County to the late Audie Greer and Audon Montieville Maynard, he sang with serveral gospel quartets for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Caney Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Smith County.
Services will be conducted by Bro. Danny Raines and Bro. Kenneth Massey. Interment will follow in Gordonsville Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years Ethelene Vanderpool Maynard; son Allan (Jean) Maynard and granddaughter Allison Maynard Noel -- all of Mt. Juliet. Also surviving is great grandson Graysen Ingram of Hermitage. sisters Alta (Herbert) Vanderpool of Hendersonville and Alvilee (Paul ) Clark of Athens.
He was preceded in death by a sister Alene Johnson and grandson Jason Maynard, who died on May 5, 2003.
