LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, April 7 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mrs. Barbara Jennings Johnson, 87, of Lebanon.
Mrs. Johnson, the widow of the late Ernest Johnson who died in April 2002, she passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Cedars Health Care in Lebanon.
Born September 12, 1921, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Early Erby and Ella Mae Hobbs Jennings. Along with her late husband, she owned and operated Barbara’s Dress Shop in Lebanon for 45 years. Mrs. Johnson a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and had sang in the choir. She also was the first recipient of the Mike Baker Award that was presented at the Wilson County Fair.
Services were conducted by Rev. Donald Owens. Interment followed at the Bartons Creek Cemetery.
Survivors include sons Dr. Wayne (Linda) Johnson and Randy (Jamie) Johnson -- all of Lebanon; grandchildren Ashlie (Dr. John) Gallaher, Dr. Rick (Melissa) Johnson, Lisa (Randy) Newman and Dr. Linda (Stan) Durham; great grandchildren Grace, Anna Belle and Lofton Gallaher, John and Jim Newman, Lindsay and Elizabeth Durham, Jordyn and Isaiah Johnson; sisters Joann Jennings Stewart of Nashville and Joy Jennings Phillips of Lebanon.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by brothers Wallace, Kenneth and Harold Jennings.
Active pallbearers: Dr. Rick Johnson, Dr. John Gallaher, Stan Durham, Randy Newman, John Newman and Jim Newman. Honorary pallbearers: nieces and nephews.
