Trousdale Co. field flooded
The remaining games in the District 8-A baseball tournament have been shifted to Watertown High after heavy overnight rains flooded the playing surface in Hartsville.
According to WHS baseball coach E.J. Wood, his Purple Tigers will take on Gordonsville today (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m. in the finals of the loser's bracket. The winner of that game will then play Goodpasture in the first game of the tournament finals at around 6:30 p.m.
An "if necessary" game would be played 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Watertown.
Goodpasture 12, Watertown 2
HARTSVILLE -- Goodpasture scored four in the first and tacked on six more runs in the sixth to take a 12-2 victory over Watertown Tuesday afternoon in the District 8-A tournament.
Ty Love had a double and a single for the Purple Tigers, who slipped to 13-19 overall with the loss.
Watertown 6, Gordonsville 4
HARTSVILLE -- Down 4-2 early, Watertown rallied for a 6-4 win over Gordonsville Monday evening in the opening round of the District 8-A baseball tournament, being hosted by Trousdale County High.
The Purple Tigers rapped out seven hits, five singles, a double by Jarred Bradshaw and a triple by Seth Price.
WHS took advantage of seven walks by two Gordonsville pitchers as Price walked three times, scored twice and swiped a pair of bases. Bo Whitlock delivered a two-run single for the winners.
Owen Queen, Lain Hindsley and Cid Cozart pitched for Watertown with Cozart earning the win with 1.1 innings of hitless relief.
