New Winters Chapel American Methodist Episcopal Church is hosting a motorcycle ride to benefit one of its members, James “Slide” Robertson.
Robertson, who has a rare blood type (B), is waiting to be matched with a new kidney since his first transplant attempt failed.
The ride, called Ride for Slide, will be hosted and led by the church’s motorcycle riding Pastor Willis Orr. Riders will start gathering at the James E. Ward Agriculture Center at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 11.
Orr said he expects riders from several surrounding towns including the Godfathers from Columbia, the Tennessee Road Hogs, The Goon Squad, Royal Power, Rough Riders, Big Tymers, Rush One and the Head Hunters from Nashville.
The Lebanon L Town Riders will be greeting bike riders from other communities Saturday morning.
The ride will pull out at about 11:30 and head down Baddour Parkway, past the Don Fox Park to Hartmann Drive and then turn up Leeville Pike to arrive at the church for a fish fry.
There will be food and entertainment both at the fairgrounds and at the church, with the “John R” Gospel Show entertaining at the fairgrounds.
All riders are welcome, and anyone wanting more information or to ride with the group may call Orr at 615-974-1579
