Blackman 3, Lebanon 2

The Blue Devils fell to 17-11 overall and 3-6 in the league with the loss. LHS will host Blackman Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Field.

Starting pitcher Garrett Fanchier took the loss for LHS. The right-hander scattered seven hits and a walk while striking out six.

He helped his own cause with three hits, including an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Chase Hudson and Martin Mobley each had two hits for LHS while Callen Harrell added a double.

WATERTOWN 7, MJCA 5 – Watertown High made the most of six hits Tuesday in a 7-5 victory over Mt. Juliet Christian Academy at Three Forks Park.

Blaze Eaton rapped out three hits for the Purple Tigers and drove in three runs as Watertown improved to 4-2 in District 8A, 4-9 overall.

Taylor Rowland started and got the win while Aaron Fountain pitched the final three innings for the save.

MJCA’s Jonathan Roberts was tagged with the loss. T.J. Roberts and Aaron Webb each had a pair of hits for the Saints.

MJCA will host Westmoreland Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Watertown will entertain Red Boiling Springs Thursday at 5 p.m.

FCS 13, WESTMORELAND 3 – Friendship Christian locked up the No. 1 seed in the District 8A baseball tournament Tuesday with a 13-3 win at Westmoreland.

The victory marked the 11th in a row for the defending Class A state champions and sent the FCS record to 14-4 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the league.

Jordan Dennis (5-1) got the victory for FCS, scattering four hits and striking out four in six innings of work.

Seniors Drew Robinson and G.L. Waynick pounded out three hits each for the winners.

MJ 7, OAKLAND 3 -- Just hours after wrapping up a 7-3 victory at Oakland High in Murfreesboro Monday evening, three Mt. Juliet High baseball standouts signed on the dotted line to continue their athletic careers in college.

Jeff Murphy, a two-year starter in right field, inked with Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky during ceremonies held Tuesday morning at the MJHS auditorium.

The night before, Murphy belted three hits as the Golden Bears inproved to 14--5 on the season.

Chase Dalton also signed with Lindsey Wilson while catcher Caleb Knox inked with Northwest Shoals Community College in Alabama.

Mt. Juliet took an early lead on a two-run homer off the bat of Josh Cotham in the top of the first.

Taylor Haydel went the distance, striking out 10 and scattering five hits, to get the decision.

Mt. Juliet will play at Beech Thursday in a 7 p.m. contest.

LHS WINS THREE -- The Lebanon Blue Devils won three-of-four games over the weekend of April 11 and 12 in the Tullahoma Invitational Tournament.

Coach Tracy Slone’s team defeated Coffee County 16-3 to open play Saturday-- pounding out 10 hits.

Daniel Harrison led the way with four RBI while Callen Harrell and Brent Morris each drove in three.

Craig Gann went the distance, scattering nine hits while striking out seven and walking two.

LHS dropped a 10-5 decision to Class AA power Goodpasture.

Morris was tagged with the loss, despite helping his own cause with a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

Lebanon closed out their Saturday with a 6-0 win over Franklin County in Winchester.

Harrell kept Franklin County off stride all day and picked up the decision, striking out six with just two walks.

Morris had an RBI and a pair of hits.

FRIENDSHIP CHRISTIAN rolled to a 13-2 victory over Watertown High Monday at Three Forks Park.

The Commanders improved to 7-0 in District 8A and 13-4 on the season.

Lee Maasen drove in four runs and Jeremy Hunley added a two-run homer.

Joey Mallicoat pitched the first four innings to get the decision for FCS, allowing just two hits.

The Commanders are scheduled to play at Ezell-Harding Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Watertown will play at Lebanon Friday in a 4 p.m. game at Veterans Field.
