A fire Thursday morning destroyed a home on Simmons Bluff Road in rural southeastern Wilson County.

“It was a total loss,” said Joey Cooper, director of Wilson County Emergency Management Agency. No one was injured in the blaze.

The fire was reported by a neighbor at 9:30 a.m. Cooper said the house, located at 5231 Simmons Bluff Road, was fully involved and flames were coming through the roof when firefighters arrived on the scene. He added that the structure had fallen in, also.

“No one was home” at the time of the fire, and the neighbor was attempting to contact the homeowner, whose name Cooper did not have as of press time.

He noted that crews remained on the scene Thursday afternoon putting out hotspots and doing overhaul.

A tanker truck, three fire engines and an ambulance responded to the scene. WEMA was also assisted by Watertown Fire Department.

Cooper said a cause of the fire has not been determined.
