Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy on the body of a Wilson County woman that was found floating near the Martha Gallatin Boat Dock on Old Hickory Lake Tuesday night.
Wilson County Sheriff Terry Ashe said the woman has been tentatively identified as Anna R. Boyd, 41, of 10750 Hwy. 109 in Wilson County.
He said around 8 p.m., Tuesday, two men fishing at Martha Gallatin Boat Dock called the Sheriff’s Department and reported they thought they saw a body floating near the dock area.
Ashe said the department’s patrol boat was dispatched to the scene and Wilson County Emergency Management Agency responded, also.
The woman’s body was retrieved and was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for an autopsy.
“The investigation is just beginning,” Ashe said, adding it did not appear there were any signs of a struggle involving the woman.
“We are not looking at foul play at this point,” he said, but noted investigators are still awaiting autopsy results.
