The purpose of tomorrow’s Wilson County Board of Education meeting has changed. According to a notice sent out via email at 5:06 p.m., the special called session will be to accept Dr. Tim Setterlund’s official notice of retirement.

According to BOE Attorney Michael Jennings, he has received the signed copies of Setterlund’s “release and settlement agreement.”

“The board will confirm it tomorrow,” Jennings said. “His last day on the job was Thursday, Jan. 23, at 5 p.m. He’s turned in all of his vehicle and school keys.”

When asked about the status of the two new individuals Setterlund hired from Shelby County and who started to work on Jan. 6, Jennings said he didn’t know.

In addition to accepting Setterlund’s agreement tomorrow, Jennings said he anticipates the BOE to discuss naming an interim director. Whether a decision will be made then as to who that might be, he said he didn’t know.

Setterlund, who came from the Memphis/Shelby County consolidated school system, was on the job for less than eight months, replacing former Director of Schools Mike Davis on July 1, 2013.

The Wilson Post left a message for BOE Chair Don Weathers and received a text from him that he was still in a business meeting unrelated to school business all day and would "call a little later." If any updates or more information is obtained tonight before tomorrow's meeting, The Post will bring it to you here.
