A multitude of law enforcement and rescue workers will work through the night investigating a deadly explosion at a home located at 576 Vance Lane -- just off Hartsville Pike -- some two miles from the Lebanon city limits.
Initial reports indicate one person, an adult male, was killed in the explosion and another person, an adult female, has been transported to Nashville's Vanderbilt Hospital by LifeFlight Helicopter with serious injuries.
A neighbor who lives on Vance Lane said he heard, "what sounded like an explosion," around 4:40 p.m.
Units from Wilson Emergency Management Agency were initially called to the scene -- 576 Vance Lane.
Information gathered at the scene indicates the deceased picked up a package from the mailbox at 576 Vance Lane, and brought it into the home where the package detonated.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) and the Tennessee Highway Patrol bomb squad are among those investigating along with the Wilson County Sheriff's Department.
UPDATE -- McClain Christian Academy, headquartered at the former Camp Smiley on Vance Lane, will hold classes Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church on W. Main Street, Lebanon. MCA is located very close to the scene of Monday evening's explosion that claimed the life of an adult male.
