Cumberland Director of Athletics Ron Pavan announced Tuesday morning the dismissal of volleyball head coach Brittany Harry effective immediately.

Pavan, in his seventh year as Cumberland's AD, will assume interim head coach responsibilities.

"The Cumberland administration made the decision to move in a different direction with our volleyball program and felt that, in the best interest of the program, the move needed to be immediate," Pavan said in a prepared statement.

"We wish Coach Harry luck in any of her future endeavors."

Harry was in her first season as head coach at Cumberland after spending the past three years at Vincennes University in Indiana where she compiled an 88-38 mark.

She replaced the retired Dewayne Deering, who stepped down in June of this year after 26 seasons on the job and racking up a record of 513-372.

Cumberland, 11-10 overall and 1-6 in Mid-South Conference action, will play at Tennessee Temple Tuesday night and at the University of Pikeville on Saturday.
