Gallatin Police Department is seeking a car theft suspect believed to be in the Mt. Juliet area.

The suspect, identified as James Carlton Goodman Jr., is an acquaintance of the victim. Goodman is suspected of taking the vehicle, a Burgundy 2011 Mazda CX-7 – tag number K1146M – sometime during the early morning hours of Monday, June 23, from Grassland Chase in Gallatin.

Police said the victim spoke to the suspect several times throughout the day with the suspect offering different stories telling her he was en-route to return the vehicle. After failing to return the vehicle, the victim made contact once more and the suspect advised he left the vehicle at the Gallatin Walmart.

The vehicle was not found at Walmart, and the victim has been unable to get the suspect to answer phone or text messages since that time.

The suspect has also been reportedly using the victim’s debit card which was left in the vehicle.

Goodman’s photo was taken by security cameras at the First State Bank in Gallatin where he allegedly used the victim’s debit card. The suspect is believed to be in the Mt. Juliet area due to the last recorded transaction being at the Walmart in Mt. Juliet.

Warrants have been obtained for the theft of a motor vehicle over $10,000 as well as Fraudulent use of the credit card.

Anyone with information that would assist in locating this suspect in this case or related to any other crimes, are asked to contact the GPD at 452-1313.
