On Saturday, July 2, 6th District Congressional Candidate Joe Carr will feature an AR-15 drawing at Ralph Bristol's "2nd Amendment is Homeland Security" event at Charlie Daniels Park in Mt. Juliet, according to a news release issued by Carr's campaign Thursday.
"In the wake of the Supreme Court unwilling to hear a case on Connecticut's unconstitutional ban of some semi-automatic guns we are one administration away from losing our 2nd Amendment rights," Carr said. "While the current administration, Hillary Clinton and those on the left continue their mission to disarm Americans I will not sit quietly, and that is why I am featuring our AR-15 drawing at the 2nd Amendment is Homeland Security event on July 2, 2016."
The news release noted Carr is a lifetime member of the Tennessee Firearms Association and believes the 2nd Amendment is about the responsibility and obligation of each American to protect their life, liberty and property.
"When our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence with the last line stating, 'we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor,' they were willing to lose everything for the idea of America," Carr continued. "Part of the idea that is America is the right, indeed the obligation to defend your 'life, liberty and property.' I will not allow the vision of these brave men to die in vain. Without the 2nd Amendment, we will lose our nation."
The event is set to start at 10 a.m., and Carr will also serve free hotdogs and beverages to those in attendance. According to the news release, the actual drawing for the Elite Arms AR-15 will take place on July 4. In order to be eligible for the drawing, entrants must pass a background check.
