Central, FCS post Week 10 wins

Friendship Christian School and Wilson Central each closed out the 2009 regular season with wins Thursday night.

FCS went up 21-0 early and rolled to a 55-0 win at Monterey. The Commanders improved to 9-1 overall / 7-1 in Region 4A and await word from the TSSAA Saturday morning about a first round playoff matchup.

Senior John Markham scored twice, running the ball four times for 110 yards. The Commanders racked up 499 yards in total offense. Monterey dropped to 5-5 overall / 3-2 in the region.


Wilson Central sent Coach Traye Aric out as a winner -- knocking off Portland (0-10) 14-11 in the Glade. The Wildcats (2-8) scored touchdowns in the second and third quarters on a 41 yard run by Hunter Cranford and a 12 yard run by Jordon Poole.

Cranford went 11-of-22 passing for 125 yards and rushed 18 times for 116 yards.

Aric had announced his resignation Wednesday after four seasons at the WCHS helm
