GREENEVILLE -- Playing for championships has become old hat for Wilson Central, and the Lady Wildcats secured a chance to make it back-to-back GreenBank Ladies Classic titles following a 58-41 win over Maryville Tuesday night.

Coach Bud Brandon’s team was scheduled to take on South Greene for the championship Wednesday afternoon at Hal Henard Gym.

Central couldn’t shake Maryville until the second half.

The contest was knotted at 21-21 at intermission, but a 22-7 run by Wilson Central in the third period gave them enough breathing room to advance.

Senior Jasmine Hassell, the reigning Miss Basketball in the state of Tennessee, tossed in 16 points and yanked off nine rebounds.

TaylorPeterson also scored 16 while Ieshia Hassell, Jasmine’s sophomore sister, tallied 11 points.

Maryville got 15 points from Bailie Roberts, but the Rebels were beaten badly on the backboards where Wilson Central held a 30-15 edge.

Wilson Central is 11-3 on the year while the Rebels drop to 7-5.
