Central slips past HHS

GLADEVILLE -- Wilson Central's Lady Wildcats survived upset-minded Hendersonville Thursday night with a come-from-behind 41-37 win in the opening round of the District 9AAA basketball tournament. The victory sends Coach Bud Brandon's team into the district semifinals Saturday at 7 p.m. against Station Camp at Hendersonville High. Sydney Vanlandingham had 18 points as the Lady Wildcats improved to 16-10 on the season.

BEECH 58, LHS 52 -- Lebanon fell behind early and never recovered in a 58-52 loss at Beech Thursday in the opening round of the District 9AAA girls' basketball tournament. Beech took a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and held off the No. 5-seeded Devilettes the rest of the way. LHS ended the season 16-12 overall and was led by ninth grader Julia Fox with 19 points. Senior Anna Stafford added 13 and McKenzie Lamberson chipped in with five.

MT. JULIET 69, GALLATIN 34 -- Top-seeded Mt. Juliet rolled to an easy 69-34 win over Gallatin Thursday night at "The Cave". The Lady Bears upped their record to 26-1 thanks to 24 points from senior Britt Bell and 15 from soph post Caya Williams. Mt. Juliet advances to the district semifinals 4 p.m. Saturday againat Beech at Hendersonville High.

FCS 45, TROUSDALE CO. 32 -- Friendship Christian's Lady Commanders punched their ticket to the District 8A finals with a 45-32 win over Trousdale County Thursday at the Bay family Sportsplex. Laurel Burroughs and Kaitlyn Teeter each had 13 points as FCS improved to 11-13 overall. FCS will play Red Boiling Springs in Monday's 7:30 p.m. finals.
