Mathieson exited SR 840 and entered Interstate 24 eastbound at the 74-mile marker and exited on Manchester Highway traveling north in Coffee County. Bowen said Lebanon officers lost contact with Mathieson after she exited the Interstate.

Rutherford County Sheriffs deputies, who were assisting in the pursuit, made contact with Mathieson, and Bowen noted she had already avoided spike strips deployed by authorities several times.

Bowen said when another spike strip was deployed by the RCSD, Mathieson attempted to avoid the strips and lost control of her vehicle, flipping off the right side of the road.

Mathieson was transported to VUMC by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries. Bringhurst reportedly did not sustain any serious injuries.

Mathieson is charged in Wilson County with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest and Vandalism.
