Charles Elmo Kuykendall, 82

LEBANON — Graveside services for Mr. Kuykendall, 82, of Lebanon were held Monday afternoon, August 25 at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Kuykendall passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro where he had lived for five years.

Born May 27, 1926, in Algood, he was the son of the late Charles Thurman and Sally Florence Bilbrey Kuykendall. He was a 1949 graduate of Tennessee Tech with a degree in accounting and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a member of the Algood Church of Christ, the American Legion Post No. 15 in Lebanon, and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Kuykendall made his home in Algood before becoming disabled and had lived in Lebanon for the past 35 years.

Services were conducted by Brother Frank Batson.

Survivors include: brother, Frank (Bobbie) Kuykendall of Donelson; nephew Ronald Kuykendall of Petaluma, CA; nieces Joan Kuykendall Hurt of Hermitage; Beth Kuykendall Leary of Brentwood and Kathy Peery Gunn of Millbrook, AL.

Also surviving are 10 great nieces and nephews; aunt D. M. Kuykendall of Cookeville; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Peery.

Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
