Mr. Callis, a lifelong resident of Lebanon, died Wed., November 23, 2011, one day before his 89th birthday.
A member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a World War II veteran, Mr. callis was a farmer who was known as The Egg Man to those who purchased his farm fresh eggs for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Leeman and Elizabeth York Callis, his first wife, Jean Wright Callis, his second wife, Ruth Hawkins Callis, an infant son, Charles Houston Callis, and daughter-in-law, Theresa Lening Callis.
He is survived by three sons, Eddie (Brenda) Callis, Robert (Marilyn Sutherland) Callis, and Tommy Callis, step-son Woode (Susan) Hawkins: grandchildren Gloria(Marvin) Maphet, Tracey (Sean) Swearns, Marianne (Chris) Mandrell and Matthew Callis, great-grandchildren, William, Benjamin and Sarah Griffith, Kris Cayce and Dylan Swearns; and great great-granddaughter Lily Griffith.
He is also survived by his sister, Irene Callis Eskew and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Donald Eskew, David Eskew, Douglas Eskew, Jim Wright, Mark Wright and Eric Wright.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, Nov. 25 from 2 until 6 p.m. and for one hour prior to the funeral service at Partlow Funeral Chapel in Lebanon at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011.
Pastor John Hunn and Bro. Carl Jones will officiate the services. Interment, Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mr. Callis memory to the Boy Scouts of America, Brooks House, or a charity of choice.
