Charles Ray Hallums, age 81 of the Shop Springs Community died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 19, 1935, son of the late Bill and Cornelia Boston Hallums and was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Messer Hallums; sister, Minnette Nettles and beloved friend and companion, Nelda Bettes.
Charles was a member of Donelson Church of Christ and was a longtime salesman for Rudy's Farm and later Sara Lee Consolidated Foods. He had a love for John Deere tractors and was a member of the Wilson Co. Antique Tractor Association.
Charles is survived by his children, Teresa (Dean) Lewis of Mt. Juliet, Tina Marie Hallums and Todd (Elaine) Hallums both of Donelson; step-daughter, Vickie Messer Long and her husband, Chris of Russell Springs, KY; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Vissie Hudson and Lillian (Dallas) Plumlee both of Lebanon and Nancy (George) Allen of Watertown; brother, Tom (Gertrude) Hallums of Lebanon; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Essary officiating.
Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to services Saturday. Pallbearers, T.J. Carr, Darin Plumlee, Mark Hallums, Timothy and Zach Kamer, Justin Dyer, Austin Plumlee. Interment at Wilson Co. Memorial Park.
