City officials are encouraging community groups, churches, schools, businesses and volunteers to join in the effort to clean and beautify the city this month. During the month of April, citizens are invited to dispose of unwanted items by placing them at the curb for pick-up by the City of Lebanon Public Works Department. The 2007 annual Spring Clean-Up was a huge success. Residents recently received a door notice with information about when the clean up crews will be in their neighborhoods. This service is for the residents of the City of Lebanon to discard unwanted items generated at their residence. This service is not for commercial waste. Therefore, the following guidelines have been set: · Smaller items should be placed in bags, and separated into 1) wood, 2) metal and 3) other items. · Hazardous items including chemicals, paint, batteries cannot be picked up. · Compressors must be removed from refrigerators prior to pick up also. For safety, doors should be removed from refrigerators. · Generally the volume of unwanted items cannot exceed what could be loaded in the back of an average pick up truck. · Commercial property and contractual waste from residential properties will not be accepted. · Items from outside of the City of Lebanon will not be picked up. For more information about pick-up of a particular item or dates of pick up in a given neighborhood, call 444-0825 ext. 121 or ext. 127 between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
