BULLETIN -- Alysha Clark, former Miss Basketball from Mt. Juliet High and the two-time top scorer in the nation, is taking her game to the next level. Clark, a 5-10 All-American forward from Middle Tennessee State, was selected with the fifth pick in the second round (17th overall) in Thursday's WNBA draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars.
San Antonio went 15-19 last season and nearly upset Phoenix in the Western Conference playoffs.
In college, Clark was a four-time Player of the Year, the last two seasons in the Sun Belt Conference with MTSU and her frehsman and sophomore years in the Atlantic Sun Conference with Belmont.
Clark scored 28.7 ppg as a senior at MTSU, helping lead the Lady Raiders to the Sun Belt Conference tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
She helped lead Mt. Juliet High to the 2005 Class AAA state championship. That season Clark was named MVP of the state tournament, the Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year, was named an AAU All-American and was named to the Girls All-Southern Basketball Team by the Orlando Sentinel.
