Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post for Wilson County is Post 5015 in Lebanon. The Post meets at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in the Veterans Building at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center. Any veteran who has been awarded a Campaign Medal or Combat Medal for any hostility is eligible for membership, verified by the veterans' DD 214 Form. Presently, Post 5015 is having success in rebuilding its post and becoming active in district and local events. It is not a Lebanon post, but a countywide post. Do you need a high school equivalency (HSE) diploma (formerly GED)? The Adult Learning Center at 107 North Greenwood in Lebanon offers free preparatory classes in Lebanon and Mt. Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce hosts Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto from 1:30 until 3 p.m., the last Wednesday of each month, and District 46 State Rep. Mark Pody from 8 until 10 a.m., the first Friday of each month, at the chamber's office at 149 Public Square. Citizens are encouraged to come and share their concerns and views with these elected officials.

Meals On Wheels volunteers are needed to deliver meals in Mt. Juliet to homebound older adults on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Meals are ready to be picked up by 9:30 a.m., at the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center, 2034 North Mt. Juliet Road, and the delivery usually takes about an hour. Routes are typically less than 20 miles of travel. Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 7463 Hickory Ridge Road, Mt. Juliet, has opened a food pantry available to those who have a need. The pantry is open the third Wednesday of every month, from 5 until 6:30 p.m., and is for all Wilson County residents. For information, call 444-2390.

Vietnam Veterans of America Annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Distribution for Wilson County veterans will be Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until noon at Fiddlers Grove Town Hall at the James E. Wilson County Insurance Committee will meet on Monday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. in Conference Room 1 of the Wilson County Courthouse.

Wilson County Election Commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 a.m. at the election commission office, located at 203 East Main Street in Lebanon, to certify results of the Nov. 8 election.

Alive Hospice "Grief During the Holidays Seminar" will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Elmcroft of Lebanon, located at 801 West Main Street. The free seminar will offer tips and strategies from a professional grief counselor to help grieving families and individuals cope with grief and loss this holiday season. Winter Holiday Science Camp, hosted by Mr. Bond and the Science Guys, will be held from Monday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 30 at Charlie Daniels Park Community Center in Mt. Juliet for children ages five to 14. The morning's theme will be Wild World of Science, and the afternoon session will focus on robotics. Full-day camps are from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Half-day and single-day options are available. The cost of the camp ranges from $45 to $260. Sibling discounts are available.
