Council nods road name change

Ordinances which would have contributed money to the Phoenix Ball and the Lebanon High School Football Lift-A-Thon were withdrawn, but the councilors each donated $20 to the football lift-a-thon.Council also:  Approved rezoning of 7.56 acres on the corner of High Street and Rome Pike, from R-1 one low density to RM-6 high density multi-family, and .76 acres at the same location from R-1 to B-4 highway commercial.Authorized Public Works Commissioner Jeff Baines to start work on the Waste Water Treatment plant.Approved the renewal of a contract for gas system rehabilitation and approved bidding for a leak survey for gas lines.Amended the building code to exempt roofing projects from the building permit requirements.Agreed to waive fees for the W.H. Neal Storage Building for the county Agricultural Office.Approved bids to reseal of the parking lots and trails at Don Fox Park, and to repair the gym floor at the Harold Dean Recreation Center.Set Nov. 4 for the election of the mayor and Wards 1, 2 and 5 councilors and put the Cartmell Scholarship on that ballot as well.
