A Lebanon City Councilor was arrested Tuesday night shortly after the meeting.

Lebanon Police Department Public Information Officer PJ Hardy confirmed that Kathy Warmath, Ward 6, was arrested Tuesday night in the parking lot of Town Hall and charged with allegedly being drunk in public, according to the Wilson County Jail.

Just minutes earlier, Warmath was in session with the other members of the council.

During the meeting, some noted what they described as slurred speech from Warmath.

Warmath had recently proposed that city councilors should receive extra stipends for special called meetings in addition to regular twice-monthly sessions. City councilors receive both pay and health insurance benefits already.

Warmath was released from the Wilson County Jail at 9:32 p.m.
