From Post staff reports
Wilson County Board of Education was expected to consider changes to the dress code at Thursday night’s regular meeting which was rescheduled from Monday when it was postponed due to still snowy and icy roads.
The board was also expected to discuss conduct and attendance policies.
The dress code, adopted in the late 1990s, has been a source of concern among many parents, students and educators through the years. Those concerns have included inconsistency regarding what is allowed to be worn at various schools and inconsistency regarding punishment for wearing something deemed as not following the dress code.
Some educators have also noted that in addition to their other duties, they also had to make sure students were in compliance with the dress code.
Generally speaking, most agree students and staff should be dressed neatly each day they come to class.
