After picking up an object in the water on sonar, a dive team from the Hendersonville Fire Department conducted a dive. Jewell said the water was very treacherous and after an intense search the team determined that the object was a tree.

That is a common problem. Currents are very intense down there, he added.

Teams were to expand their search Wednesday afternoon another mile west toward Buzzard Island in the river.

We have searched the 500 yards of where he originally disappeared. We have drug that area extensively and so far havent found anything, Jewell said.Davis disappeared in the river on Sunday about 5:30 p.m. after he and two friends jumped from a 10-foot bluff on Old Hunters Point Bridge, a popular spot for teens which has a rope swing. Although his friends tried to help the struggling boy, they were unable to rescue him.
