County sends nine individuals to state -
HENDERSONVILLE -- Nine Wilson County individuals have qualified for the Class AAA state cross country meet next week based on their times at the Region 5AAA race Thursday at Stewarts Ferry Park.
The state meet will be held at Percy Warner Park's Steeplechase Course Saturday, Nov. 7.
The top 10 individuals earned state spots along with the top three teams.
Mt. Juliet's Hailey Parker won the girl's race with a time of 20:22. Teammate Julia Karsten placed seventh at 21:35. Lebanon High teammates Caitlyn Strickland (8th place, 21:47) and Allie Dozier (10th, 22:06) also earned spots in the state.
Wilson Central's John Elrod was the top county finisher in the boy's race, placing 5th with a time of 16:47.
Lebanon's Caleb Kawasaki placed sixth at 16:57. Wilson Central teammates Nathan Peterson (17:10) and Joel Barlow (17:11) placed 8th and 9th while Mt. Juliet Austin Powell earned a state berth by finishing 10th at 17:25.
The Wilson Central boys will go as a team based on a second place team finish.
