Ten local runners competed Nov. 7
NASHVILLE -- Friendship Christian's Tyler Alverson and Wilson Central's Nathan Peterson finished in the top 25 of their respective races Saturday morning at the TSSAA cross country championships held at the Steeplechase Course - Percy Warner Park.

Alverson, a senior, ran a 17:59 over the 5,000 meter course to finish eighth in the 58-man Division II-A field.

Peterson clocked a 16:44 to finish 24th in the Class AAA field of 183 runners as Wilson Central earned 10th place out of 24 teams.

Wildcat senior John Elrod battled a sore hip to run a 16:50 and finished 32nd.

Lebanon High's Caleb Kawasaki placed 44th with a time of 17:03 while Mt. Juliet ninth grader Austin Powell ran a 17:12 and finished 51st.

Here's how the rest of the Wilson Central team finished: Baylor Franklin 84th at 17:44; Joel Barlow 87th at 17:45; Russell Riggan 142nd at 18:33; Chris Farmer 170th at 19:18 and Grant Pody 182md at 20:11.

Mt. Juliet High freshman Bailey Parker ran a 20:18, good enough for 39th place, in the Class AAA girls race.

A pair of Lebanon High runners, Allie Dozier (21:48) and Caitlyn Strickland (21:49), finished 92nd and 93rd.

Mt. Juliet High's Julia Karsten ran a 21-:54 and placed 96th in the field of 181.
