CROSS COUNTRY -- WC takes win at Macon Co.

LHS team places third
LAFAYETTE -- Local runners claimed five of the top six places in Saturday's season-opening cross country race at the Macon County Invitational.
Wilson Central placed all seven entrants in the top 20 to win going away with 25 points. Riverdale was second with 95 and Lebanon third at 97.
Wilson Central's Nathan Peterson finished in first place at 16:45.
Teammate Joel Barlow placed second at 16:53 while John Elrod came in fourth at 16:56.
Lebanon High's Caleb Kawasaki turned in a 16:57 for fifth place.
Central's Baylor Franklin ran a 17:20 for sixth place.
Other top 20 finishes included: Grant Pody (WC) 12th at 18:13; Russell Riggan (WC) 13th at 18:16; Jacob Andrews (LHS) 16th at 18:27; Chris Farmer (WC) 17th at 18:29 and Noah Chance (LHS) 20th at 18:36.
Ethan Njezic (LHS) 27th at 18:58; Devin Cole (LHS) 37th at 19:20; David O'hanlon (LHS) 40th at 19:27 and Chance Lindsey (LHS) 50th at 20:02.

Lebanon High girls
Lebanon's girls placed seventh as a team Saturday with Brianna Garza finishing 23rd at 23:44 and Madeline Walker right behind at 24th with a 23:45.
Maddie Martin came in 34th at 25:08.
Next up for local runners is the Voyles Classic Saturday, Aug. 27 at Smyrna's Sharp Springs Park.

Aiden Britt wins MS race
LAFAYETTE -- Tuckers Crossroads student Aiden Britt claimed first place in the opening race of the cross country season Saturday in the Boys' Middle School Division of the Macon County Invitational.
The eighth grader finished the 3,200 meter course in 11:51, besting a field of 139 competitors.
