Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes --
Cumberland baseball players Taylor Dorsey, Joseph Midgett and Sam Eichler were named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced late last week during the Avista NAIA-World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.

Student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average and above to be eligible for the award.

A total of 383 student-athletes from around the country were honored by the national organization.

Dorsey (Murfreesboro) holds a 4.00 while working on his master's in Business Administration, while Midgett (Lebanon) posts a 3.98 in Athletic Training and Eichler (Mission Viejo, CA) carries a 3.87 in Criminal Justice/Public Administration.

Avista-NAIA World Series
Lewis-Clark State defeated Faulkner (Ala.) 6-4 Friday, June 2 to win a third consecutive Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series championship.

The title is an NAIA record 19th for Lewis-Clark State, which improved to 40-14 on the season. The Warriors are 142-46 all-time in the World Series.
