Byrd cracks two homers --
LEBANON -- Jarrett Plnkett ripped five hits with five runs scored while Justin Byrd hit a pair of homers and drove in five runs in Cumberland's 10-6 and 11-5 wins over Lindenwood-Belleville Wednesday at Stockton Field.
The Bulldogs (10-21) collected a season-high 16 hits in the opening contest and registered 14 more in the second game.
Plunkett was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and one RBI in the first outing and added two more hits with a solo homer in the second game.
Byrd belted a three-run homer in the first inning of the opener and added a two-run shot in the sixth. He finished the day with four hits and four runs scored.
Ryan Dickison also drove in four runs in the twinbill, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning of the first game.
Cameron Lenz (1-2) picked up the victory for the Bulldogs with six innings of work in the opener, allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits. He walked two and struck out four. LU-Belleville starter Cody Calhoun (1-6) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits in four innings.
Drew Chester (1-0) tossed four innings to get the win in the second game, giving up four runs on five hits.
Cumberland is scheduled to play a single game at Pikeville University Friday at 11 a.m.

LEBANON -- Tyler Albert posted two hits with a double and three RBIs and 13th-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan scored three runs in the seventh en route to a 6-4 victory over the Bulldogs Tuesday at Stockton Field.
Albert's two-run double in the fifth put Tennessee Wesleyan (26-8) ahead, 3-1, but the Bulldogs (8-21) knotted the score with an RBI single from Hectoe Viera and an RBI groundout by Jonathan Larson in the bottom of the inning.
Albert's run-scoring single in the seventh put Wesleyan ahead for good and Brad Carpenter and Wardy Polanco added RBI singles later in the inning for a 6-3 advantage.
Cumberland plated an unearned run in the ninth and had the tying runs on base before Tyler Alford's groundout to end the contest.
Justin Byrd was 4-for-5 and scored twice for the Bulldogs and Viera posted two hits, but CU stranded 10 runners on base, including two apiece in the third, fifth and ninth innings.
Polanco collected three hits, Carpenter and Cody Stroud each added two hits and Stroud scored twice for Wesleyan.
Chris Washington (6-2) picked up the win for TWC, allowing three runs on nine hits in six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out two.
Brandon Landrie tossed two hitless innings of relief and Logan Longwith worked around a hit and two errors to post his fifth save.
CU starter Stephen Fischer pitched five innings, giving up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
Austin Williams (0-1) was saddled with the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of relief.
