Saturday at Nokes-Lasater Field

Broc Loveless has drawn the starting assignment at quarterback for Saturday's homecoming game as Cumberland hosts Union College of Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Nokes-Lasater Field. Live radio coverage begins at 1 p.m. on WANT FM-98.9.
A redshirt junior out of Spring Hill, Loveless will be making just the third start of his career and the first since Sept. 24, 2011, at West Virginia Tech.
Loveless has seen significant playing time in both of the previous seasons and split many of the snaps this year with Reed Gurchiek. This season his playing time has been much more substantial, seeing action in all five contests.

He has rushed for six touchdowns in the last three weeks, including 46, 13 and 23-yard TDs in the fourth quarter against Bluefield College two weeks ago and a 68-yard scoring run last week versus the University of Pikeville.
He also scampered 20 yards for the game-winning TD in overtime against the Bears. He has rushed 27 times for 274 yards (10.1 yards-per carry) and seven touchdowns this season.
Coach Donnie Suber’s Bulldogs come in 3-2 after last week’s thrilling 49-42 win over Pikeville. Down 31-14 in the third quarter, CU scored 28 unanswered points.
Union stands 1-4 after a 21-18 loss to Reinhardt last week.
Cumberland and Union have played 18 times over the past 23 years with the Bulldogs holding an 11-7 advantage in the series.
CU has won each of the last three meetings, including last season’s 42-21 win.
